POINT Magazine

Call for Creative Content

The Arts Administration and Culture Management Program at Humber College is pleased to announce a call for creative content submissions to be included in the first issue of POINT Magazine. POINT is an online and print publication that focuses on revealing and expanding upon the topic of cultural pluralism as it relates to arts and culture in Canada.

POINT Magazine seeks to investigate issues of diversity in the arts, through scholarly research as well as creative content. We are hoping to include different perspectives in order to enhance the formation of a wholesome “Canadian” identity within the cultural sector that mirrors the plurality of histories that make up our contemporary society.

Applicants are invited to consider the ways in which this identity has been constructed in the past, as well as concepts of decolonisation, immigration, intragenerational relationships, stereotypification, border permeability, queerisms, and hybridism, and what role these play in the cultural sector.

Submissions of creative content can include, but are not limited to: photography, print media, drawing, painting, creative writing, short stories, and poetry. Additionally, there will be an opportunity for showcasing the work during the Inaugural Issue Launch Party in Toronto.

Submission Requirements

Applications are welcomed from professional, emerging, and street artists, as well as any individuals who are actively involved in artistic discourse and activity within their community.

Applications must include:

A 200500 word artist statement and bio. (Word of PDF)
A current curriculum vitae (Optional, Word or PDF)
Up to 5 images (JPEG) or text pieces (3 page limit each, Word)

Email your submissions to pointsubmissions@gmail.com by March 22nd, 2015

We look forward to receiving your contribution!
